William Jefferson ‘Blowjob Bill’ Clinton en Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton doen het goed in Kosovo. Bill heeft zijn standbeeld op de Bill Clinton Boulevard van Pristina, de hoofdstad van Kosovo. En Hillary wordt daar geëerd met een kledingzaak. Hillary zei dat de onafhankelijkheid van Kosovo haar ding was.
Het zoveelste corrupte regime werd daar geïnstalleerd door de Coalition of the Willing.

Zo’n bevolkingsonderzoek kan natuurlijk nooit een juist beeld geven van de mate van corruptie in een land. Hoe meer corruptie er is, hoe meer corrupten dat zullen ontkennen. Je krijgt enkel een afkeuring van corruptie van de kleine minderheid van moreel zuivere inwoners, die meestal geen macht hebben.

The rationale of these choices is that political corruption, organised crime, and poor governance are so pervasive in Kosovo that they threaten the stability of the Balkans and Europe’s internal security.
In 2008, when Kosovo became independent and the EU deployed Eulex, the new state risked being captured by a largely unaccountable political-economic elite, which partly overlaps with Kosovo’s criminal elite.
To avert this outcome and to allow reform, the administration of justice in the most delicate sectors was entrusted to Eulex.
But, as I argue in a book which came out just a couple of weeks ago, the international community has failed to prevent this state capture.”
En het trieste is dat een gelijkaardig patroon te vinden is in al die landen waarvan het westen vond dat ze met shock and awe aangepakt moesten worden (meestal nadat een aantal westerse landen de boel daar al flink hadden verstoord).
Wat Obama er nu van bakt is ook niet bijzonder fraai. Hij liet zijn landgenoten die in Jemen vastzaten gewoon stikken. Poetin moest Amerikanen en Engelsen uit hun netelige positie daar bevrijden. Obama kon het niet of wilde het niet. Kies zelf maar uit wat erger is.

Maar een westerling kan het toch nooit laten om het eigendom van anderen te beschouwen als zijn eigen eigendom. ‘Laten we de Krim aan de Russen cadeau doen’ zegt Maarten, alsof de Krim van ons was. Als er een land is dat recht heeft op de Krim dan is het Rusland.
