Amerikaanse presidenten profileren zich meestal met oorlogen. En als Hillary 'Pillory' ooit president wordt (God forbid!) zal ze zeker proberen haar mannetje te staan. Amerika is nog steeds de grootste exporteur van staatsgrepen, revoluties en oorlog. Maar het land zelf is een zooitje. Racisme tiert er nog steeds welig, ook onder een zwarte president. The American Way is going down, going down. The American Way of Poverty is een feit.

De gespletenheid tijdens de viering van het einde van WO II kan niet groter zijn. Het Westen lijkt zich weer te scharen achter rechtsextremisten en neo-nazi’s, op aandringen van Obama. De tactiek van het financieren en bewapenen van de vijanden van Rusland gaat gewoon door ook al zijn dat ook de vijanden van het westen. Zo gaat de ondergang in zijn werk van wat we eens de westerse beschaving noemden.

Hybris en nemesis spelen ook vandaag de dag een grote rol, net als toen Napoleon Rusland binnenviel. Hitler kwam ook van een koude kermis thuis. Toch zijn er nog steeds presidenten en politici die hun lesje niet geleerd willen hebben.
Het is Rusland dat Europa bevrijd heeft van de nazi’s en daar de meeste offers voor gebracht heeft. Maar dat wil het westen niet horen, zeker niet als een nieuwe drang naar het oosten gepland wordt. Ook de nederlaag van Napoleon in Rusland is iets waar men het niet over wil hebben. Beethoven heeft niet voor niets in zijn derde symfonie, de Eroïca, oorspronkelijk geschreven als eerbetoon aan Napoleon, de naam Napoleon zo driftig uitgekrast dat er een gat in het manuscript kwam. Het was Napoleon naar de bol gestegen toen hij zich tot keizer uitriep. Hybris en nemesis.

Vergeet ook niet dat de VS is losing on all counts, all over the world. De VS is niet meer in staat om vrede te brengen. Een oorlog beginnen is net iets makkelijker en profijtelijker (voor de oorlogsindustrie). Maar het zal uitlopen op weer een fiasco.
