De gevaren die inherent zijn aan onze huidige neoliberale maatschappij zijn evident. Van de overheid heeft het volk meestal weinig te verwachten. Vaak zijn bestuurders en politici corrupt en verkiezingen in veel landen zijn een show. In Brazilië klagen corrupte politici president Rousseff aan voor … jawel, corruptie. Een integere president is het grootste gevaar voor een corrupte oppositie. Ook het IMF heeft/had corrupte voorzitters.
Wie gaat de Amerikaanse presidentsverkiezingen winnen? Hillary of Trump? Is Trump als dorpsgek gevaarlijker dan Hillary? Ik dacht het niet. Hillary zal als ze president wordt haar beloftes maar al te graag laten vallen en oorlogszuchtiger en asocialer optreden dan ze nu laat doorschemeren. Trump daarentegen kan alleen maar gematigder worden als president. Hij zit nu op zijn maximum aan extreme standpunten. Dat kan alleen maar minder worden als hij de macht krijgt.
En intussen wordt de toestand in de wereld er politiek en ecologisch niet beter op.

This isn’t the first time Clinton has won the adoration of the war hawks.
The great neocon panic
In almost surreal contrast to Clinton, Trump has called for reducing America’s military presence abroad and has repeatedly stated his opposition to foreign intervention, calling the Iraq war that Clinton backed “a big fat mistake” that “destabilized the Middle East.”
He even suggested a policy of neutrality in peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, a proposal he eventually walked back after incurring the wrath of pro-Israel hardliners, including Clinton, who declared, “America can’t ever be neutral … anyone who doesn’t understand that has no business being America’s president.”
A general election between Clinton and Trump would be a dreadful race to the bottom. It’s no wonder so many people would refuse to cast a ballot for either candidate.”
