Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose?
Dat is in elk geval een tendens die nagestreefd wordt door veel machthebbers. Bush en Blair vielen Irak binnen om 'een eind te maken aan de folterpraktijken van Saddam Hoessein' en begonnen zelf te folteren. In Egypte is het nieuwe regime in dezelfde onderdrukkende praktijken vervallen. De VS wordt in naam van de strijd tegen het totalitarisme zelf totalitair. Obama is weliswaar president maar nog steeds een 'boy', een slaafje van de echte machthebbers, de multinationals en de megabanken.
Alles gaat op en neer. Maar de meest recente ontwikkeling is er een die komt van de 99%. Geen regime is bestand tegen de macht van het aantal. Als de Spanjaarden zich realiseren dat ze bij de rechtse partij waarop ze zojuist massaal gestemd hebben nog slechter in de aap gelogeerd zijn, zijn de rapen gaar. Het ontbreekt vooralsnog aan voldoende verbeelding om ons een andere wereld voor te stellen en inzicht in de situatie. Maar echte verandering komt er wel. Laten we hopen niet na een groeiende onderdrukking van het volk.
