We kennen allemaal de doemdenkers die al een paar keer het einde van de wereld hebben voorspeld, maar dees aardkloot draait nog steeds zijn rondjes. Maar soms komt die gekte wel erg dicht bij de realiteit. Er is een nieuw boek dat in de maffe stijl van de doemvoorspellers toch een waarschuwing inhoudt. Je zou de stijl kunnen vergelijken met De Lof der Zotheid van Erasmus. Een aanrader dus. The End of the World voor maar $7 (€ 5,62) als ebook. Geen geld voor zo'n evenement. Het is grimmig satirisch. Achter de donderpreek van de Reverend Billy, pastor Billy van de Church of Stop Shopping, schuilt een ongemakkelijke waarheid.

De link hierboven heb ik zelf toegevoegd. Het is geen fictie, dat rapport bestaat echt en Nature is een van de meest gerespecteerde wetenschappelijke tijdschriften (en behoorlijk duur ook). Het artikel is hier te downloaden.
De zotheid heerst nog steeds alom. Het komt erop aan die te herkennen. Ook Erasmus liet de zotheid spreken en die sprak veel waars.
