OrientalReview: "The Ukrainian state continues its slow-motion collapse, this time with Poroshenko seeking to deal a death blow to the last remnants of the Rada. He has accused “half of the Verkhovna Rada” of being “a ‘fifth column’ which is controlled from abroad, whole factions” after they did not pass a bill labelling Lugansk and Donetsk’s governments as terrorist organizations. Such an action would have granted pseudo-legitimacy to the US in doing the same, with the ultimate intent of connecting supposed Russian support of these entities with “state sponsor of terrorism” status. By his threatening words, Poroshenko is purposely trying to rile up nationalist voters and intimidate any remaining pragmatic politicians in his quest for near-total control over the state, just as an oligarch holds absolute power of his company. Concurrent with this, the West is wholeheartedly supporting Ukraine’s military, although that institution is on the brink of self-implosion as well. The unstable result of these two trends is the dystopian descent of Ukraine towards military dictatorship, all with the enthusiastic backing of the West in its latest anti-Russian crusade.
The EU has taken an about-face and unexpectedly lifted its arms ban on Ukraine, opening the door for a tidal wave of weaponry to flood into the conflict-stricken country. The supreme irony is that the EU originally imposed the ban on the Yanukovich government in February to prevent “internal repression”, but the current coup-imposed government has killed over 1000 people and counting during its recent “anti-terrorist” operation. The pro-coup Kyiv Post admits that 90 people died in the run-up to Yanukovich’s overthrow, meaning that the current authorities have been rewarded for killing 10x as many people by gaining access to the latest weaponry that Europe has to offer.
What makes the slide into military dictatorship and nationalist destabilization all the more dystopian, however, is that ‘Western values’, which always promote themselves as being holier-than-thou, are firmly behind bringing this nightmare into the heart of the European continent."
TheNation: "Kiev cannot wage this war on its own citizens—a UN spokesperson says nearly 5,000 civilians have been killed or wounded, which may constitute war crimes—without the Obama administration’s political, economic and military support. Having also created hundreds of thousands of fleeing refugees, Ukraine is bankrupt, its industrial infrastructure damaged, and it is in political disarray, using ultranationalist militias and conscripting men up to 60 years of age.
In November 2013, the European Union, with White House support, triggered the crisis by rejecting Putin’s offer of an EU-Moscow-US financial plan and confronting Ukraine’s elected president, Viktor Yanukovych, with an unnecessary choice between “partnership” with Europe or with Russia. The proposal was laden with harsh financial conditions as well as “military and security” obligations. Not surprisingly, Yanukovych opted for a considerably more favorable financial offer from Putin. Imposing such a choice on the president of an already profoundly divided country was needlessly provocative.
If the hawks on both sides prevail, it might well mean full-scale war. Has there been any other occasion in the modern history of American democracy when such a dire possibility loomed without any public protest at high levels or debate in the establishment media? Nonetheless, the way out is obvious to every informed observer: an immediate cease-fire, which must begin in Kiev, enabling negotiations over Ukraine’s future, the general contours of which are well known to all participants in this fateful crisis."

Contrary to the Obama administration’s public claims blaming eastern Ukrainian rebels and Russia for the shoot-down of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, some U.S. intelligence analysts have concluded that the rebels and Russia were likely not at fault and that it appears Ukrainian government forces were to blame, according to a source briefed on these findings.
This judgment – at odds with what President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have expressed publicly – is based largely on the absence of U.S. government evidence that Russia supplied the rebels with a Buk anti-aircraft missile system that would be needed to hit a civilian jetliner flying at 33,000 feet, said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
If the U.S. intelligence analysts are correct – that the rebels and Russia are likely not responsible – the chief remaining suspect would be the Ukrainian government, which does possess Buk anti-aircraft missiles and reportedly had two fighter jets in the vicinity of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 at the time of the shoot-down.
It may seem cynical to suggest that the powers-that-be in Official Washington are so caught up in their own propaganda that they would prefer the actual killers of innocent people – whether in Syria or Ukraine – to go unpunished, rather than to admit their own mistakes. But that is often how the powerful react. Nothing is more important than their reputations."
U.S. DOUBLE STANDARDS
DeWereldMorgen: "Twee crisissen, Oekraïne en Palestina, het is uiterst boeiend en leerrijk om te zien hoe de EU daar mee omgaat. Zeker als men in het achterhoofd houdt wat de EU beweert te zijn, een organisatie voor vrede, democratie, vrijheden, welvaart, vooruitgang en dies meer.
Al direct is duidelijk dat de aanpak van de twee dossiers totaal verschillend is en dat de EU alle begrip heeft voor moord en destructie door zijn bondgenoten en dat hun oorlogsmisdaden en misdaden tegen de menselijkheid van geen tel zijn.
In die hele Oekraïense kwestie gaat het niet om “democratie” en “vrede”, maar om de verdere uitbreiding van de westerse invloedssfeer naar de grens met Rusland toe. Rusland wordt, ondanks het einde van de Koude Oorlog, en de opheffing van de Sovjet-Unie, nog altijd als een vijand beschouwd. Het is immers een groot en machtig land, een mogelijke bedreiging dus voor de westerse hegemonie.
Na de opheffing van de Sovjet-Unie beloofden de Amerikaanse president Bill Clinton aan Russisch president Gorbachov dat ze geen uitbreiding van hun macht in de voormalige Oostbloklanden nastreefden, een belofte die al snel werd gebroken. In versneld tempo werden de meeste van die landen binnen de EU en de NAVO gehaald."
De PvdA heeft al heel vroeg zijn leden politiek geïndoctrineerd en Rusland voorgesteld als de vijand. Dat is na hun overgang naar het neoliberalisme alleen maar erger geworden. Haatzaaien is normaal. Ingeval van een oorlog zal die niet op Amerikaanse grond plaatsvinden, maar in Europa, en de soldaten, het kanonnenvoer, zullen voor een groot deel uit Europese landen komen, en dat allemaal tot meerdere eer en glorie van het Amerikaanse imperium dat rekent op een verlamd Rusland en ... ook Europa. Waanzin!

Something is not right with Europe’s sanctions regime. The headline figure is already enough to make you wonder: the European Union today imposes sanctions on more than 30 countries – that’s almost one in six countries in the world! writes Justin Stares.
To make matters worse, the EU is currently suffering from criticism regarding what lawyers euphemistically call “due process”. EU sanctions against Iran are in many cases simply illegal, the European Court of Justice has found. So-called evidence collected by the Council of Ministers has been shown to be well below European legal standards and has in many cases been thrown out by Luxembourg judges.
The Council, which represents the EU’s high-and-mighty Member States, has chosen to ignore the court’s rulings and re-file a new set of alleged evidence, much of which is no doubt as dodgy as the first set."

De groep achter De Ommekeer heeft een brief opgesteld aan president van Rusland, Vladimir Putin. Onze politici en de media liegen ongeloofelijk als het gaat om de Oekraïne. De opstand en het afzetten van de regering is geheel door de VS en de EU georganiseerd. Met het neerhalen van MH 17 heeft het de aandacht van Nederland. Dat echter de politiek en de media bol staan van de leugens valt blijkbaar niemand op. Rusland heeft de Krim niet geannexeerd, Rusland heeft het vliegtuig niet neergeschoten, er is nog geen onomstotelijk bewijs. Maar de VS en de EU hebben al een vonnis uitgesproken nog voordat er een onderzoek is geweest en dit onomstotelijk bewijs is geleverd. Dit is niet hoe een rechtsstaat functioneert.
